Hachette Australia and the Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) have the perfect opportunity for you.

Submissions are now open for their 6th national program for fiction and non-fiction writers in 2013.

‘We’re delighted to once again be running this program in association with the QWC and can’t wait to read the submissions’ said Fiona Hazard, Publishing director, Hachette Australia.

Ten emerging writers will be selected from hundreds of submissions to work with publishers from Hachette Australia to develop manuscripts and meet with industry professionals across the country.

Many of the writers who have taken part in this program have gone on to successfully publish books with Hachette. Eight authors have signed up with Hachette directly following this program.

Victorian author Favel Parrett developed her debut novel, Past the Shallows, during the 2008 program. Her book was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and she claimed the Dobbie Literary Award and Newcomer of the Year Award at the Australian Book Industry Awards.

The program will run for four days in the QWC office, in Brisbane. Participants will have an individual consultation with publishers from Hachette Australia to receive feedback on their manuscript. During the program, participants will also meet literary agents, booksellers and established authors. A mentor-author will work with the writers over four days. The program will run 15-19 November 2013.

QWC and Hachette Australia will be accepting submissions until July 1 2013. Further information regarding submission guidelines can be found at QWC.
